Video Slots Odds
The meaning of the word odds, in terms of video slots, is the probability of matching symbols to land on the pay line. If we use the example 4-1, which reads as four to one, the four is how many times something is due to fail and the 1 is the favorable outcome. You can see where the term “odds against” comes from.
Your average video slot machine will only have one virtual outcome which corresponds to paying the jackpot amount out to you. If a machine uses a value of 32 to process its random generated numbers (RGN) then the odds are 32-1. Obviously as you have probably already seen, slot machines have a minimum of three reels, so the odds are 32 x 32 x 32 which is the same as 32,768 failing outcomes to one winner.
With reels of up to 10, up to 100 lines, and who knows how many symbols, the odds of winning the jackpot using video slots is slim at best. Still the thrill of the chase is fun just like in a real casino. Odds of any gambling game can be daunting. Sometimes it’s just easier to be lucky than worry about possible outcomes or chances.
With the statistical know-how safely imbedded, you can approach video slot machines with an air of caution in financial terms. While gambling is fun and odds are slim, there is a great attraction for slot machines as the jackpots must pay out one day.
