Josephine Crawford, the 84 year old widow from New Jersey, struck lucky on Tuesday 18th April 2006. The great grandmother was at Harrah Casino in Atlantic City on her bi-weekly visit with her 27 year old granddaughter. She decided to play the progressive nickel slot, which she states she does not normally play, and hit the big one.

She later said she was down to her last $5 before trying her luck at the progressive game. The jackpot was a whopping $10 million, although she is yet to decide on whether to take annual payments for the next 25 years or take a lump sum which would see $5.5 million being taxed.

Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City has given the lucky lady 21 days to decide on how she would like her fortune paid to her. When asked what she would do with the money she stated “I’ll find a way to spend it. I might go to Las Vegas and try my luck there!”

The 84 year old has been reported in having many marriage proposals but has yet to accept any. If she does accept the 25 annual payments, the last payment of $400,000 will be paid to her when she is 109 years old.

If she does take the trip and go to Las Vegas she will most likely head straight for the nickel progressive games to see if she still has a lucky winning streak.
